Meet Raezlle, Project Administrator, The Neighbourhood Organization

I am Filipino and came to Canada as a student and studied International Business Management at Niagara College. The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) had advertised a legal workshop for the Filipino community and that’s the first time I heard about the work they do.

The TNO supports newcomers to Canada, including seasonal agricultural workers and others working in retail, construction and food service, in many ways. I started as a volunteer with them and then applied for this job as a Project Administrator. I am so fascinated by the work they do.

It’s so fulfilling to help workers, even in small ways. I gather and compile reports, manage the inventory of welcome bags, and oversee administration in the Simcoe office, while also supporting our Oshawa office. We prepare welcome bags for seasonal agricultural workers arriving in Canada each season. Additionally, I assist our outreach workers with various tasks when clients come in. Some workers need help with services such as translating forms, seeking medical or legal advice, applying for CPP and Parental Benefits, class for learning English, and other forms of support. I’m gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and vulnerabilities these workers face, and I’m glad I can help.

My husband and our two children, aged 10 and 8, are here with me. My husband works at an ice cream factory, and our family already loves Canada. My family enjoy biking, swimming, and other outdoor activities. I also practice yoga to take some time for myself. We’ve applied for Permanent Residency because we want to make Canada our permanent home. Once we receive our PR, I look forward to having my sisters visit from the Philippines.
